Libros bonitos no. 2

This is another book that I have actually read; Etta and Otto and Russel and James by Emma Hooper. It was published by Penguin.

I throughly enjoyed this book, it is set in rural Canada and follows an old woman named Etta, with alternating sections from her youth and the current day when she is embarking on the walk of a lifetime. I love this book, it had a calming feeling to it, and I loved that Hooper didn’t use speech marks, and so you were never sure if something was actually being spoken or was merely a thought. It made everything more interpretive.

In terms of the appearance of this book, it is stunning! It is a hardback without a dust jacket, and has gorgeous foiling (can you tell I love a foiled front cover?). I love that despite the foiling, the book cover still strikes me as relatively simple. It is beautiful. If you get the chance, please pick it up, not just because of the outside, but what is inside too!!

Stay tuned for an author spotlight coming up this week.

Hope everyone is having a good week!
